Southwark College Access to Higher Education end-of-year celebration
Southwark College hosted an end-of-year celebratory brunch and award ceremony for Access to Higher Education students to commemorate a year of hard-work, success, teamwork, and achievements.
Students and staff gave speeches to thank one another and acknowledge the dedication and commitment of the department towards supporting students to achieve their diplomas. Awards were presented by staff to individual students, recognising their efforts throughout the year and highlighting the positive impact they had on their peers. The students also presented gifts to staff members to thank them for all their support.
Annette Cast, Principal at Southwark College, said: “I'm delighted to see that our students' dedication and commitment has paid off and wish to congratulate all of them as they receive their awards. Our Access to Higher Education Diplomas are for students who want to pursue a degree or specific career path but do not currently hold the necessary qualifications, with many of our students coming from the most challenging backgrounds.
“They all worked incredibly hard throughout the year to achieve excellent results, and many of them will be progressing on to their first choice of university or career path. The students have proven to have a wide range of talents and have developed into an amazing group of motivated students.”
Celso Muniz, Access to Business Management and Accounting student, said: “This course has been helpful in my everyday life and my career. We are not just learning theory, there are a lot of practical elements too. The course was more challenging than I had anticipated so it took a lot of dedication, but this is why I was able to take so much away with me from this course as well as all the support from the teachers and my peers. Overall, I am very happy to have studied at Southwark College; for everything I have learnt and everyone I have met.”
Lisa Chanelle, Class President, and Access to Nursing and Midwifery student, said: “This course has been great, and the past year has been an amazing experience for all of us. The end-of-year award ceremony has been really encouraging, and to see everyone’s progress celebrated is truly inspirational. I hope these awards continue to take place as they give us all a chance to say goodbye, thank you, and good luck to everyone who has gone through this incredible journey.”
