Newcastle Sixth Form College triumphs at the Regional Bar Mock Trial for the first time ever and make their way to the national finals. Students from Newcastle Sixth Form College, took on all-comers from across the North East in a criminal trial competition, and walked away as the regions best performing team, and walking into the national finals, which will take place at the Royal Courts of Justice in March 2026. This was the sixth forms first ever attempt in the competition and they beat the regions leading schools and other colleges to secure the title. The competition is the largest and longest running of its kind, involving hundreds of schools and thousands of students each year. Congratulations to Noah Hennesy, Airah Muhashir, Ben Widmer, Ella Freestone, Ella-Mae Cox, Rosalie Wong, Jade Clarkson, Joseph Hynes, Katie Lauderdale-Cheel, Lucy Billany, Oliver Smith, Sarah Svachova, Sienna Keogan, Deborah George, Keziah Lartey, Logan Sewell, Mason Fiddes and Sammy Serban. The team were amazing throughout the day, showing great maturity, skill and specialist knowledge. Their confidence grew throughout the trials, so the overall award as best performing team, and the chance to represent the North East in the national finals was well deserved. A special thanks to Jenny Adams our Personal Development Coach who gave up her weekend to attend and support the students. The Bar Mock Trial involved 15-18-year-olds taking on the main roles found in a criminal trial - such as prosecutor, defendant, and witness - with the cases specially written by legal experts. They competed against opposing teams from other schools in real court rooms, with the support of judges and practising barristers. The NSFC students who participated in the competition have been part of our Bar Mock Trial enrichment, with the support of Jonathan Beaufort-Jones and the whole team went to the regional heats which were hosted by Newcastle Crown Court.
