Yesterday, our Uniformed Services students visited Tyne and Wear Fire and Rescue Service HQ in Sunderland for an incredible hands-on experience!
They took part in a series of fitness challenges that real fire service recruits must pass, including:
🔥 A timed mechanical build while wearing gloves
🔥 Running with heavy equipment
🔥 Navigating a "rat-run" maze in full kit and blindfolded to simulate zero visibility in smoke-filled environments
Under the guidance of Watch Manager Adam Robinson and the firefighting training team, students worked in groups and got a true insight into the physical and mental demands of the role.
This was a fantastic opportunity to prepare for purposeful employment in the public services sector. Well done to everyone who took part! 👏
