19-year-old Business Apprentice Niamh Dougan explains why she switched from A Levels to an apprenticeship:

"I joined the Port of Blyth in November 2022 after I realised that Sixth Form was no longer the right choice for me. I worked with Port Training Services three days per week as a Business Admin apprentice when I first started and the remaining two days were spent in the marketing department, to get a feel for which career I would like to pursue in the future. The Marketing team said I showed a real flare for marketing, and were impressed with my efficient and fast approach to tasks, so I was given the opportunity to pursue it full-time, whilst still completing my Level 3 Business Administrator apprenticeship."
