Our Digital Art and Digital Technologies teams have been very busy today facilitating the first ever international live test of the CREATE Metaverse project.

This project is part of the Europe-wide InnoVET initiative and has been in the development stage for two years. Yesterday, for the first time ever, students from Spain, Finland, the Netherlands, Switzerland and the UK were able to participate in a virtual learning environment, at the same time.

Students from our Masters in Immersive and Creative Technologies joined the virtual classroom from our Rye Hill campus. Scott Proctor said: "It was great to be able to interact with some students from across Europe; we even had a little dance, it was fun! I'm excited about what this could mean for the future of learning."

Leading on the UK's contribution is Digital Arts Lecturer @Paul Smyth MA. He said: "Many students are already familiar with similar environments through platforms such as Roblox. With InnoVET, we’re creating the first truly international metaverse classroom, where students can explore, learn, and collaborate globally in real time. This was a big step for us and I think we got a lot of really useful feedback."
